502 hectares
Property Description
Located just 1 km east of Glencairn, Manitoba and 19 km from the Riding Mountain National Park, Glencairn Wetlands presents an amazing opportunity to conserve and steward the amazing habitats found on the property and the species that call this place home. Glencairn Wetlands spreads over an impressive 502 hectares of land in the Riding Mountain natural area and is characterized by a wide variety of habitats including aspen forest, wetland and grasslands. Conservation of Glencairn Wetlands will enhance wetland habitat, benefit ground nesting birds and explore opportunities to restore forests and hydrology. Wetlands are highly productive and rich in biodiversity; they enhance water quality, control erosion, sequester carbon and support a variety of endangered species.
Wetlands are of enormous value to our landscape. They provide important stopovers for migratory birds as well as storage for water throughout the year. With the securement of Glencairn Wetlands, we can retain landscape connectivity for local species, and ensure the wetlands flourish while continuing to provide lands for producers to graze into the future.
